CDCP

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is designed to make dental care more accessible and affordable for eligible Canadians. If you don’t have dental insurance, this program can help cover the cost of essential dental services so you can get the care you need with less financial stress.

At Dr. Surya Family Dentistry, we’re happy to support patients who are covered under the CDCP and guide you through how it works.

What Is the CDCP?

The CDCP is a federally funded program that helps cover a wide range of dental services for eligible patients. This includes:

  • Exams and cleanings
  • X-rays and diagnostics
  • Fillings and other restorative care
  • Root canals
  • Dentures
  • Gum treatments
  • Oral surgery

Coverage is based on a set fee guide, helping reduce out-of-pocket costs for many patients.

Who Is Eligible?

You may qualify for the CDCP if you:

  • Do not have access to dental insurance
  • Have an adjusted family net income under $90,000
  • Are a Canadian resident
  • Have filed your taxes for the previous year

To continue receiving coverage, you will need to re-enrol in the program each year.

How to Apply

The CDCP is a federally funded program that helps cover a wide range of dental services for eligible patients. This includes:

  • Exams and cleanings
  • X-rays and diagnostics
  • Fillings and other restorative care
  • Root canals
  • Dentures
  • Gum treatments
  • Oral surgery

Coverage is based on a set fee guide, helping reduce out-of-pocket costs for many patients.

How to Apply

You can apply for the CDCP online through the Government of Canada portal. If you prefer, you can also apply by phone.

Once approved:

  • You will receive a welcome package from Sun Life
  • Your member card and coverage start date will be included
  • Coverage typically begins within a few months of approval
  • Coverage Levels

The amount covered depends on your household income:

  • Up to $70,000 – up to 100 percent of eligible costs covered
  • $70,000 to $79,999 – partial coverage (around 60 percent)
  • $80,000 to $89,999 – partial coverage (around 40 percent)

You may still have a co-payment depending on your coverage level and the treatment provided.
